God is a missional God. This week we looked at the narrative of scripture and saw how it reveals this reality. God desires to see the nations come to worship Him alone. Scripture tells this one big story of God redeeming the world and reconciling all things back to himself in this one big mission. We ran through the story of scripture quickly. Look at the following verses to further understand this idea and see it for yourself.

  • Psalm 33:13-14, 67:1-7, 86:9-10, 96:3

  • Isaiah 11:9-10, 49:6, 52:10, 61:11

  • Jonah 4:11

  • Habakkuk 1:5

  • Zephaniah 2:11

  • Haggai 2:7

  • Zechariah 8:20-23

  • Malachi 1:11

  • Matthew 9:35-38, 28:18-20

  • John 20:21

  • Romans 10:11-15

  • Galatians 3:13-14

  • I Timothy 2:4-6

  • II Peter 3:9

  • I John 2:2

– The bottom line of this week’s message is that God is a missional God and that believers must live lives of sacrificial and missional obedience. How would you describe this lifestyle?
– Statistically and generally speaking, we do not live like this. We offered several of the varying excuses Christians can make. What reasons do you hear made for not being missional?
– What excuses do you make?
– Next week, we will look more at the practical outworking of being missional, but the command and mission have been given to all believers across all time and space. We are to go and make disciples of all nations. We are to multiply and fill the earth with his image and his worship until one day when we see Revelation 7:9 fulfilled. How can you begin to take steps to live a life of sacrificial and missional obedience this week? Where has God placed you, and how has he gifted you to bless the nations?
